SAYCO FAQsBuses Please let us know through the Group Registration form if you are bringing a bus and what time you are expecting to arrive. This way we can prepare for your arrival, and arrange a suitable parking space for the bus. Drinking Water All water outlets within the school supply mains drinking water. We will run a hose from one of the taps to the edge of the accommodation oval for ease of access to water. All of the drinking water facilities throughout the school contain filtered water. Forms Leaders, Junior Leaders and Kids registration forms don't need to be sent into the UC Events Office, they are for the group coordinator to keep and bring with them on the weekend in case you need to refer to them. The forms that need to be sent into the office are the Group Information form, and the Site Pass Application form (last two still to come). Junior Leaders Junior Leaders need to take part in the Screening and Authority process. They also need to come with the understanding that they are participating in SAYCO with the purpose of assisting with the care of the youth in their group or helping out in some way. As they are under 18, they are not to be given full responsibility and therefore will be supervised by an adult. In South Australia a child is legally defined as a person under the age of 18 years of age. A person under 18 cannot be held legally responsible. Late arrivals If you are expecting campers to arrive late please ensure that they know to go straight to SAYCO Admin. We will welcome them, give them their site passes and then help them find you and your group. Leadership ratio for junior leaders at SAYCO Adult Leaders are to only mentor one junior leader. If a group has 2 adult leaders, there should only be one junior leader (maximum). The table below outlines the leadership ratio for adult leaders and junior leaders. Campers - Leaders - Junior Leaders Up to 6 - 2 or more - 1 max 7 to 12 - 3 or more - 2 max 13 to 18 - 4 or more - 3 max 19 to 24 - 5 or more - 4 max 25 to 30 - 6 or more - 5 max 31 to 36 - 7 or more - 6 max Parking on your site Cars are not allowed to remain on the oval. If you need to drive onto the oval to drop off a trailer or deliver heavy equipment, please unload your car straight away and move it off the oval to the long term parking next to the oval. Power There is no power available on the oval. Please bring only gas-cooking equipment and/or a quiet generator. If you are bringing a generator then please ensure you are courteous to your neighbours regarding running times and refill the generator well away from any tents. Registration Fees: (all prices include GST) Full Time Campers (kids, leaders, junior leaders) - $50.00 Please make sure that you give SAYCO Admin your final numbers of attendees as soon as you can and no later than 3:00pm on Saturday. This way we can confirm how many are on site (for OHS&W management reasons), plus we can finalise our records in preparation for sorting out the finances post event. Traffic The program runs from 1:00pm Saturday to 1:00pm Monday. There will be no vehicle access to the SAYCO site during this time and cars will not be able to move around the SAYCO site. Why do we need a UC Screening Request? Why can't we use the 'police check' that's been done for another organisation? As part of our compliance with government legislation, Insurance and the church's duty of care policy, we are required to risk assess all facets of church programs and events. In order that we may do this, we require individuals to participate in the UC SA Screening process. |
