During Lent 2009, the Uniting Church in South Australia raised $45,000 through its 34th Annual Lenten Appeal. This Appeal coincided with the Victorian Bushfire Appeal which meant that giving to the Lenten Appeal in 2009 was less than usual. Even so, $10,000 was made available to the Papua New Guinea Microfinance Project, $18,000 to resourcing church workers and ministers in North Luzon and $15,000 to supporting Congress Youth in Oodnadatta.
