LENT RETREATSAt Ceduna, Saturday 20 February (Leader: Lynona Hawkins) RESIDENTIAL RETREATS1) "Sacred Rhythm: praying the hours" ~ 23rd - 27th May 2010 (Sunday to Thursday) Biblical accounts of the life of the early Church describe the practice of praying at 9am, noon and 3pm. Over the centuries monastic communities have added more prayers for particular hours. To join in prayer at these hours is to enter into an unceasing stream of prayer rising from around the world, and to enter a tradition that has been sustained for centuries. We invite you to discover the wisdom of this tradition for 21st century Christians, and how it helps us to balance our lives with a gentle rhythm of work, rest and prayer. Includes times of silence, prayer, reflections. (Leaders: Rev Gary Stuckey and Ann Siddall) Cost $420 / $370 concession, covers cost of meals, accommodation, spiritual direction and materials. Deadline for registrations is 12th May 2010. 2) “A Weekend with the Poets and Mystics” ~ 3rd - 5th September (Fri night to Sun lunch) For centuries poets and mystics have dared to experience life deeply, and have written about it with imagination and creativity. This weekend retreat will invite you into a contemplative space with selected readings and poems which invite a deeper way of seeing. It will be an unhurried time, moving from prayer to quietness, from worship to walking, from private contemplation to group conversation. We will take time to savour the work of people like Meister Eckhart, Hildegard of Bingen, Mary Oliver, David Whyte and R.S. Thomas. (Retreat Leader: Ann Siddall) Cost $420 / $370 concession, covers cost of meals, accommodation and materials. Deadline for registrations is 19th August 2010. Once you register your interest in making such a retreat we will contact you by phone or e-mail to negotiate a commencement time.*The retreat may also be purchased as a package, including a Guide for Leaders, and used for a day retreat for a group or congregation at a time of your choosing. Cost: Personal retreat—$45 (concession $35); Personal retreat with Spiritual direction—$60 (concession $50); Group Retreat Pack with Leaders’ Guide (we suggest you ask for a contribution of $5-$10 per person for this) for congregations of: 10 to 100 people - $60, 101-150 people - $80, over 150 people - $120. Themes can range from a general retreat to give people “time out” for spiritual refreshment, retreats on particular themes (e.g. seasons of the church’s year); workshops on prayer, spiritual growth in congregations, discernment, intercession, living contemplatively, spiritual practices and so on.
