Youth Mission Planning

Youth Mission Planning is about helping individuals, congregations and groups of the Uniting Church decide about their options when it comes to working with young people

There are no easy answers, lots of work and no magic formulas for success. In fact the local people working with their groups and communities are the experts when it comes to the local context.

Mission planning is about providing resources and help in planning the local response to Youth Issues. It may offer another perspective on possibilities that are present in the local community.

Mission planning is about catching up with what God is already doing and joining in with open eyes, hearts and minds. It is about looking forward and planning for what is at the forefront of opportunities.

Youth Mission Planner - Will Hall

willIn 2003, Will Hall left his acting career to oversee the Youth and Young Adult Ministries at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, spending 5 years establishing leaders and building a youth ministry - from zero to flourishing. Alongside this work, Will also took up the role of a college chaplain and carer for children and youth under guardianship. Through his various roles, Will has developed a well-established understanding of the importance of one-to-one rapport with young people as well as an intuitive awareness of cultural trends and shifts.

Will started his new role in late January this year, bouncing into the team with tenacity and optimism for the road ahead.

Will's core desire is to 'bring hope and justice to a world that desperately needs it' through a passion to join with God in His restoration of all things. This mandate finds Will completely given over to an unconditional love revolution. Will is greatly supported by his wife Nikki, "an amazing woman who constantly surprises and reminds me of what's really important; love and relationships."

In his new role in the MRN, he will be supporting, encouraging and equipping the youth and young adults across SA.

SAYCO

SAYCO brings together young people (aged 12-15) from across the state in a fun, relaxed, camping environment. It is a safe place to come, have a great time and connect with God.  SAYCO is an event that stands on it's own for offering young people of this age a place to explore their faith.

NCYC

NCYC or National Christian Youth Convention is an event of the National Uniting Church that is held every Two Years

NCYC delegates experience intentional Christian community, creative worship, and challenging and informative electives and bible studies. They also get the chance to let their hair down with all sorts of fun activities and entertainment. People of different cultural backgrounds, as well as from different denominations learn about each other and celebrate what they all have in common: the willingness to learn about and share in the life and work of God in the world.

NCYC is more than just a week away in January. Delegates return home to their congregations eager to respond to what they have experienced and see God's will carried out in the church and the wider community. New perspectives and fellowship with other young Christians often gives the young person the motivation to instigate something different in their community based on what NCYC has taught challenged or inspired them to do!

The next NCYC "Turn it Up" will be in 2011 on the Gold Coast. Visit their website for more info.
